“Then God blessed them, and God said to them,…multiply; fill the earth…” — Gen. 1:28.
After Adam had shown that he was able to produce for himself and was fruitful in the Garden of Eden (cf. Gen. 1), he was instructed to multiply and expand through the virtue of what he has produced (his fruitfulness). Last year, we tilled the earth and put our best effort to work in honor to God and humanity, striving towards fruitfulness as the Holy Spirit poured into our hearts to make good use of our gifts and what has been given to us as faithful stewards (Gen. 1:28). We thank God for the testimony of many who shared how 2017 had been quite a productive and fruitful year for them.
For the year 2018, we are taking a new direction, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, to focus on the second command in Genesis 1:28, which instructs us “to multiply and fill the earth.” This injunction is important in order to help us experience the reward of our fruitfulness and productivity: expansion. Growth takes work and we have committed ourselves to being fruitful and productive in 2017. This was made possible by virtue of the character and likeness of God in us, which purified our eternal essence in God and produced the fruit of the Spirit such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
God is a God of order and before He can use us effectively we must go through His refining process. He began to use Adam in the Garden of Eden after he worked him around some pivotal steps. God first brought everything that was in chaos to order before He created Adam. We celebrated 2015 as our year of “Order” and we saw God bring the chaoticness of our lives to order. The second refining process was to pour His image and likeness in man. 2016 was our year of “Character”, as we began to trust the Holy Spirit to transform us and bring us into union with God. After we activated our Divine DNA in 2016, we began to make the best of God’s gift and fruit in our lives in 2017 by being fruitful and proactive in our work. 2017 was our year of “Productivity” and we did come a long way. God has given us a Word for 2018:
It is time for growth. It is time to multiply. It is our year of “Expansion.”
To make the best of 2018, we must make conscious effort to scale up our respective areas of endeavor. It is now time to take that next step in our career and personal lives. It is time to start that new business. It is time to grow our finances. It is time to break new grounds for the Lord. God has put His best package in us — our lives are in order, we have the character of God in us, and have given an account of our stewardship. Therefore, we are ready for this next level of greatness. In 2018, we are going to focus on expanding our work and increasing that which has been given to us. God is about to do what no man has never seen before as we step into the New Year with growth and expansion in our consciousness.
- It is my prayer for you this New Year that God will increase you and give you the courage to multiply that which you have been given and to make good use of your gifts as faithful stewards (Gen. 1:28).
- In this New Year, may God enlarge your steps and may your foot not slip (Psa. 18:36; Psa. 121:3).
- May God give you wisdom and great discernment and breadth of mind, like the sand that is on the seashore (1 Kings 4:29).
- May God enlarge the place of your tent and stretch your tent curtains wide without holding back. May He lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. You will spread out to the right and to the left and become the person God has destined you to be (Isa. 54:2-3). Amen!
Growth and Peace for the New Year.
